Lowering your blood pressure naturally

Meditation Not Medication

Today we live in a high-demand world.  Our jobs often keep us under a lot of pressure to get things done more efficiently and with precision to keep costs low.  Then when we get home its time to play with the kids and make dinner.  Before you can even start that you have to clean up last nights mess because you were too tired to take care of it then.  So instead we order pizza or another form of take out loaded with salt, fat and calories.  All these things have an effect on our blood pressure.  And that is a rising effect!  High blood pressure puts you at higher risk for heart failure, diabetic nephropathy and increased risk of stroke.

This article will briefly discuss the pros and cons of three ways to combat high blood pressure: medication, meditation and nutritional change.

Medication:
Pros- Its easy! Just pop a pill once a day and you are set!  Some studies have shown that taking an antihypertensive can prevent coronary heart disease and stroke even if you do not have high blood pressure.
Cons- Expensive without insurance and The Side effects! Extra urination, erection problems, weakness, leg cramps, fatigue, foot pain, gout, asthma symptoms, cold hands and feet, depression, insomnia, A dry, hacking cough that doesn't go away (if you have this side effect, the doctor may prescribe another type of medication taking a way the convenience factor), skin rash and loss of taste...you see where I'm going with this?  This is just half of the possible side-effects.

Is there a better way?

Yes!

Meditation:
Pros- Transcendental Meditation has been shown to reduce systolic and diastolic blood pressure by 4.7mm and 3.2mm respectively.  There is no cost for meditation as this is something you can do on your own at home and there are no side-effects!
Cons- You have to find 5 to 10 minutes of your day to dedicate to this.

Combined with

Nutritional Change:
Pros- No daily pill(s)!  Natural foods have less sodium than the processed foods of the standard American diet.  You just may get to try new foods you've never tasted before. No side effects such as kidney/liver damage and those listed above!  Eating whole, natural foods can lower your body weight further reducing you blood pressure numbers.
Cons- Eating natural, whole foods can be expensive without the proper guidance but a qualified health coach can help.

Lowering your blood pressure can be done easily and without expensive medication, along with its many side-effects for the rest of your life.  It starts with simple, progressive changes in your life and over time becomes a life changing event.  Using this information can prevent high blood pressure from occurring or  help with current issues.  Never stop taking medications without your doctor's consent first.
